Description: Enter official terminal degree information in Banner for reporting out to CDS, SACS etc.

Purpose:

Faculty terminal degree information is entered into Hollins’ SIS, Banner, so as to be able to extract the information in various reports when needed. This is a requirement for all Full-time faculty being hired starting 2024.

Scope:

Official transcripts are sent to Human Resources as part of the vetting process for new faculty being hired. These are forwarded digitally to the Provost Office when received. The Administrative Assistant enters the information in Banner form - SIAFDEG

Step-by-step instruction

  1. Login to Banner (user access needed)

  2. Type SIAFDEG

  3. Either enter ID or lookup name

  4. Lookup institution using Prior College using the three dots

  5. in the first few letter(s)of the name of the College/University followed by %.

    Case sensitive

    This field has to match exactly as it has been saved. Therefore, it is best to enter only few characters (first letter capped) and use wild card (%) to search. E.g. Hol% for Hollins

  6. Click GO

  7. List of possible colleges/university will appear

  8. Click SELECT at the bottom of the screen

  9. Enter the appropriate year (e.g. 09/01/2022) in TRANSCRIPT RECEIVED

  10. Check the OFFICIAL  box

  11. Click SAVE. It will not allow you to proceed until you save this portion

  12. Type in the degree awarded in DEGREE (e.g. PHD, MS etc.)

  13. Type in date awarded in DATE

  14. Click SAVE

Resources

  • Human Resources - for any transcript that they receive

  • New Hire - Faculty may be able to send official transcript if required
